  Dozens of sports cars have been found racing and drifting at the Lahore Fort heritage site. Local sources said members of influential families of Lahore as well as other areas of the province entered the historical heritage site with their sports cars and indulged in racing, drifting and other competitions. Walled City Authority Director General Kamran Lashari said he was saddened to see racing cars on the fort premises. He said the permission was granted for two days for an event but the sports car owners continued to trespass the site afterwards. He said the authority would inform the officials concerned about the issue. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar reportedly taken notice of the reports of car racing and drifting at Shahi Qila. He sought a report from the DG of Walled City of Lahore Authority and ordered an inquiry. The CM said disciplinary action should be taken against the officers who gave the permission. Transworld has announced addition of another submarine cable SEA-ME-WE 6 in its portfolio, which will be ready for service by Q1 2025. The Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 6 (SEA-ME-WE 6) is a 19,200 km-long submarine cable system connecting Pakistan with multiple countries between Singapore and France. As tensions boil over in Europe after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan are likely to surge by up to Rs9.59 per litre from March 1, 2022. In mid-February, the government has already made a record increase in prices of petroleum products, when it raised the price of petrol by Rs12.03 per litre to Rs159.86 per litre. On February 16, the crude oil price stood at $94 per barrel in the international market. As Russia launched an attack on its neighbour, the price of oil crossed $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014 with Brent crude touching $105 on Thursday. The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has chalked out a flight operation for safely evacuating Pakistanis stranded in Ukraine due to prevailing situation there, said the national flag carrier spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez. In a news statement, he said preparations had been completed to send two flights to Poland from Pakistan on Sunday. However, the departure of flights was subject to the arrival of Pakistani citizens in Poland, he added. The spokesman said the flights were likely to reach Warsaw (capital of Poland) as the arrangements at the existing airports near Ukraine-Poland borders especially Lublin city were not sufficient for the operation of a large size aircraft. He said the Pakistani embassy in Ukraine was not only contacting all those Pakistanis who wanted to return the country, but also providing them all-out information in this regard.   The 3rd generation Suzuki Swift has been launched in Pakistan in three variants at a starting price of Rs 2.5 million. The hatchback vehicle is available in three variants GL (Manual), GL (CVT), and top-of-the-line GLX (CVT). The launching ceremony of Suzuki Swift was held at a local hotel in Lahore which was attended by a large number of people. A senior official of car maker termed Suzuki Swift 3rd generation as innovation in the auto industry saying 16 new features have been introduced in the new models. The 1.2L petrol engine is something of a novelty in the vehicle. The car has a ground clearance of nearly 160mm owing to the Pakistani roads. Its base variant comes with 5-Speed Manual Transmission, while the top two variants will have CVT. Halogen Multi Reflector Headlamps are mounted in the GL (Manual) version and GL (CVT) comes with LED Projection with Auto Headlight feature.

  Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s father Ayaz Afridi Sunday hoped that Qalanadars would win their maiden Pakistan Super League (PS) title today. Talking to a private TV channel, Ayaz Afridi said that his son’s captaincy and performance had been much better throughout the tournament. “Lahore Qalandars are expected to repeat the high level of performance that they had shown against Islamabad United in the previous match,” he added. Qalandars are the only team in the league who have not won the title since the Pakistan Super League started in 2016. Qalandars lost to Karachi Kings in the only final they played in 2020. From May 2022, tourists visiting Attabad Lake and the Hunza River in Pakistan’s mountainous northern areas will be able to ride what tourism promoters say is one of the fastest jet boats in the world, introduced for the first time in Pakistan by an overseas investment group, the Pak Greenland Corporation, to promote adventure tourism. The purpose-built jet boat arrived in Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), from Turkey early this month and will offer quick trips between the Shishkat and Hussaini Bridge (Passu Cone) in Upper Hunza. Gilgit-Baltistan is one of the top tourist hotspots in Pakistan and hosts over 10 million foreign and local tourists every year, contributing around Rs 300 million per annum to the local economy, according to GB Invest, a public-private organization that works for investment promotion in the region.
